Risk Monitoring

Risk monitoring establishes routine surveillance of actual performance for comparison with specified performance measures. When risk treatment strategies are established, a monitoring regime is required to provide ongoing assurance of their effectiveness.

Systems to monitor risks require careful selection, targeting and planning, as they absorb scarce resources. Selection of monitoring priorities will include consideration of:

  • The highest rated risks.
  • Treatment strategies assessed as vulnerable to failure.
  • Activities which are characterised by a high incidence of change.

Continuous or frequent monitoring of selected risks, through checking particular factors and parameter is desirable for risks that could significantly damage and or impair the achievement of business objectives.
